Da Fragneto Monforte
From Campania to the coast
Our story starts with our grandfather, Alfredo, in Fragneto Monforte, a small town in Campania. In his twenties he left for England, and in Manchester he met our grandmother, Diane.
Two children followed, our aunt and our father Roberto, and in time the family moved south: first to the village of Ditchling, then down to the water at Brighton Marina.
1994
Diane found the spot
It was our grandmother, Diane, who found the site, a spot on the Waterfront looking out over the boats. In 1994, Alfredo and Roberto opened the doors of Bella Napoli.
The whole family worked it. Our grandmother, our aunt, everyone played a part. But the bosses were never in doubt: Alfredo and Roberto.
Found by Diane. Opened by Alfredo and Roberto. Run by the family ever since.
Padre e Figlio
Father and son
Our father, Roberto, was there from the very beginning, in his early twenties when the doors opened. For years he worked at Alfredo’s side: first as his right hand, and in time as his equal.
What they built on the Marina is still going strong after thirty years.

Oggi
Three generations in
Today Bella Napoli is run by Roberto, with the third generation, Luca and Alessio, carrying it on. Some of the team in our kitchen have been with us for over twenty years, and a few of the faces out on the floor for almost as long. The cooking hasn’t changed. Pizza stone baked in our Izzo oven, sauces made from scratch, and every table treated like family.
